Let's Pretend this Never Happened
The task was to create a book cover for, Let’s Pretend this Never Happened. The book is a memoir written by Jenny Lawson about her crazy, unusual life. The concept was to use hand-drawn type that is not only atypical, but exaggerated and outlandish, to illustrate the tone of the tales in the book. Picturing an eraser with antlers pays tribute to many bizarre animal encounters Lawson writes about, as well as her desire to “erase” or pretend some things never happened, thus garnering interest as it plays off the title and foreshadows events in the story.
